Brushwork of the Far East: Sumi-e Techniques
The Far Eastern art form known as sumi-e in which sumi (Chinese ink) is applied to absorbent white paper. The brushwork is straightforward, yet by varying pressure on the brush and the intensity of the ink a monochromatic tonality is achieved that expresses emotion as well as captures forms.
