Nanbaree
$30.00
In this beautiful children’s book, compiled by Isobel, the reproductions tell a very special true story never previously told. In 1788, Nanbaree watched the First Fleet sail into Sydney Harbour. He was adopted by Surgeon White and became a key person in the life of the early colony. Nanbaree acted as an interpreter for Governor Phillip and his own countrymen. The artist, Thomas Watling, was assigned to illustrate White’s collection of plants and animals. The talented forger also drew delightful portraits of Nanbaree, his family and friends and scenes of their life on Sydney Harbour.
