The Annotated Mother Goose
This ample gathering, containing more than one thousand separate rhymes from the earliest surviving publications to the present day, is one of the most complete collection ever assembled. The rhymes are usually given in their earliest published form, which was often later suppressed (what was common in the 18th century was later thought too bawdy) and the authors have included most of the known variations of the original.
