Publication based on an adaptation of the ‘Carnival of Animals – A zoological fantasy’ composed by Camille Saint-Saens (1835-1921) in 1886. The adaptation featured words and images by the popular cartoonist Michael Leunig, the performance of the Australian Chamber Orchestra directed by Richard Tognetti, and narration by rock singer and environmental activist Peter Garrett. The hardcover volume contains a preface by Leunig along with his texts and images. The adaptation was presented in a series of concerts which toured Australia in April-May 2000. A CD (duration 31 minutes) attached to the front of the volume presents a recording of the production.
