Most people went there to make hurried fortune from the savage land.  A very few succeeded, and the remnants either drifted away or stayed on to establish one of Australia’s most colourful communities. Signed by the author on the title page. Various black and white photographs throughout the book.

Book Condition: Very good hardcover with a small stain on the front free endpaper outer edge. Two Royal Historical Society of Queensland stamps on the two pages following the title page. The dust jacket has some chips and closed and open tears to the edges that have been repaired.
