The Indian Tribes of North America: 3 Volume set

$450.00

One of the finest artistic and anthropological records of the Native Americans ever published. This three-volume set includes 120 colourful portraits, biographies, and a detailed essay on the history of the North American Indians. First published between 1836-1844. From 1933 to 1934 the work was republished by John Grant of Edinburgh, with a new introduction to the first volume by the long recognised scholar of American Indians, Fredrick Webb Hodge. It is this edition that has now been reprinted with the original one hundred and twenty-two colour plates, treasured by ethnologists, folklorists, book collectors and artists, the desire for which has accounted for the demise of the majority of the complete sets of this much sought-after work.
