South Bank : An Historical Perspective from Then Until Now

$65.00

The South Bank of the Brisbane River has alway figured largely in the development of the Queensland capital of the same name. It was the landing and trading place of the first European settlers and remained the centre of industry, commerce, transport and communications for may years. It was the berthing area for shipping until changes in maritime operations moved this activity further downstream. This, however, provided the opportunity to utilise the area for the benefit of the city’s residents and it was developed as the site of the Brisbane World Expo in 1988 and this led to its later transformation as a huge open area for entertainment, cultural activities, recreation and relaxation, virtually in the heart of the city.
