The Minerva Journal of John Washington Price: A Voyage From Cork Ireland To Sydney, New South Wales 1798-1800
Price was the surgeon on the Minerva which carried United Irishmen who were being transported to Sydney for their part in the 1798 rebellion. His journal covers his trip to and from Sydney. John William Lewin taught him to draw and this edition has 29 of Price’s watercolour illustrations, including his studies of Sydney, the first Government House, the fauna & the Sydney people. Transcribed and edited with an introduction by Pamela Jeanne Fulton.

Book Condition: Near fine hardcover in a dust jacket showing some minor chipping and closed tears to top edge and minor surface markings to the front of the cover and minor marking and spotty staining along the back cover near the spine. Minor edge wear to bottom of boards. An EX-Libris stamp of previous owner on the bottom of the front endpaper. Otherwise, a fine copy internally.
